The Holy Spirit: He Works

In the sermon "The Holy Spirit: He Works," based on Romans 8:1–10, we are challenged to view the Holy Spirit not as a passive influence, but as an active, transforming power in the life of every believer. The message emphasizes that the Spirit brings a "new freedom" by changing our legal standing before God. Because of Christ’s finished work on the cross, believers are entirely liberated from the penalty and guilt of sin, moving past simply having an "expunged record" to experiencing a reality of absolute non-condemnation. This foundational truth frees us to live boldly without being paralyzed by past shame or the judgment of others. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit produces a "new mindset" and a "new life." Rather than forcing superficial behavior modification, the Spirit fundamentally alters our affections—causing us to genuinely love what God loves and hate what He hates. Even as our physical bodies experience the natural declines of mortality, the Spirit provides daily internal renewal and enduring resurrection power. This divine partnership empowers believers to walk securely in peace, knowing that earthly opposition cannot destroy the eternal life and purpose being cultivated within them.
